Shino Exploration with Chuck Hindes
January 25-29

Chuck Hindes, professor emeritus from the University of Iowa will spend one week in our studio, making work, and formulating some shino glaze tests.  At the end of the week we’ll fire the gas kiln to cone 8/9.  If you’d like to participate by hanging out in the studio, watching the maestro work, and want to put a few small things in the kiln, please contact the studio at 206-722-6342.  (we are also accepting one assistant for this weeklong work.  If you want the inside scoop on shinos, this is a great opportunity.)

Chuck Hindes taught for many years at the University of Iowa.  He was the recipient of an NEA grant, and has work in the collections of the Renwick Gallery in Washington DC, the Everson Museum of Art (NY), and the St. Louis Museum of Art, as well as many other public and private collections.  He is a sought-after workshop teacher and has taught at most of the art camps across the country.
