Alisa Savage

Alisa received her BA in painting and ceramics from Winona State University in Minnesota, and an MFA in ceramics from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.

Like many clay students, her interest came somewhat as a surprise. She writes about the experience, “I got interested in clay sort of by accident.  I really didn't want to take a ceramics class, but it was the only class that fit my schedule.  After the first class I was hooked.”

Alisa’s current work is inspired by shapes found in nature, the exploration of things sensual, and the body. She is interested in the pairing of things unexpected; the combination of something that is a bit awkward or unnatural with something that is familiar and comforting.  She lets the form guide her ideas.

Alisa is the coordinator and instructor at the pottery studio at Jefferson Community Center, she teaches children’s classes at Seward Park Clay Studio, and Kirkland Art Center.
